The neighborhood, which has a special importance for Anatolian civilizations, is mentioned in historical sources as an important center of the early Christian period, where different cultures lived together.
It is known that the Devil’s Bridge was built during the Byzantine period in terms of the materials and construction technique used. The structure, which was built as an aqueduct in order to allow the water coming to the neighborhood to pass through the valley, which also connects the two slopes and serve as a bridge. The outer part and the arch section of the work made of Sille stone is covered with chiseled stones. The bridge has an appalling but impressive appearance. It is has been built approximately 5.000 years ago. It has a single , a flat arch span, a straight roadway, and chiseled and rubble stone materials were used throughout. It is in sound condition today.
The bridge is not preferred for use today due to its narrow and high location in the valley.
A rumour that has been told among people, few people in a wedding group fell into the canyon while crossing the bridge and some people lost their lives. From that day on it was named as ‘Şeytan Köprüsü (Devil’s Bridge)
