Konya Archeology Museum

Our history progresses and develops every day. These developments exist together with past experiences. Many things have come from the past to the present. And we learn about our history through a range of sources and structures. One of the best of these resources is museums. If we talk about some of these museums in Konya, we can start with the archaeological museum. This archeology museum houses items belonging to Neolithic,Old Bronze,Middle Bronze,iron, Classic, Hellenistic,Roman and Byzantine ages. Archeology museum is waiting for you witness the history of Konya. In the garden of the museum,there are architectural pieces and tombstone made of stone and marble built during Byzantine and Roman ages. Inside the museum there are sarcophagi from the Neolithic age. And also clay pots from the Old Bronze and Middle Bronze ages,this museum contains many works from the Classical period, Iron age and the Roman period. the other museum is ethnographian museum. this museum contains examples mostly from the ottoman and Republican periods. Here there are examples from the period such as carpets,rugs, prayers,beads,bracelets, coffee cups,guns and knives. The last museum is Atatürk museum. Atatürk is the most important person of our history. this museum is where Atatürk stayed when he came to Konya. In the museum, Konya and its place in the War of Independence have been tried to be explained with documents and photographs. While efforts were made to ensure integrity with panels and showcases in the exhibition located in the lower and upper halls of the museum, Atatürk’s visits to Konya were explained with documents and photographs from the pre-Republican period on the ground floor. Documents, photographs and newspaper clippings showing Atatürk’s arrival in Konya, his visits to the city and the daily notes he kept in this house are exhibited on the panels. Some of Atatürk’s clothes and various items he used in this house are exhibited in the showcases.
